Why do fitness testing?

Fitness testing has long been used to identify talent in athletes but in the right situations and under the right conditions, testing of fitness and performance is a fantastic way to make sure a program for health and well-being is on track and, more broadly, if a coaching or athlete development system is actually working effectively.
GPTQA validates the testing at every event so that longitudinal comparison of results are really honest, unbiased and reliable.
It is too easy to test poorly and be mis-directed with unclear data so check to see if your service provider is GPTQA trained and accredited before you make decisions on the process to improve.

Global Wellness Tracking use the Fit3D pro scanner to measure the body circumferences and while claims are made that external measurements can provide results for body composition and health, these are deeply algorithm based and we do not use this data in your reports.
3D body scanning is non-intrusive and is completed under GPTQA controlled conditions with an accredited professional available in preparation. The actual scan is done in private.
The scan involves a full 3D rotation of the client, whilst cameras move vertically up and down, scanning the surface of the client. The information collected by the camera is used to calculate the distance between the camera and the surface of the client’s body, creating a 3D avatar and circumferences of set sites.
The data collected includes the circumferences of the neck, chest, forearms, biceps, hips, waist, thighs and calves. With this information we can observe important ratios such as waist:hip and any forms of imbalance in the limbs. Additionally, the scan provides a detailed three-dimensional avatar highlighting static posture, shift and tilt.
The results of the scan can be used for sizing clothes accurately in additional to the health and functional development of the client.
Preparation for a 3D body scan assessment is essential for reliable and valid results. See the GPTQA video for advice.
Example data provided from a 3D body measurement scan:
- Date of test – 29/04/2022
- Age at test – 46
- Height (cm) – 175
- Weight (kg) – 85.5
- Neck Circumference (cm) – 43.6
- Chest Circumference (cm) – 116.3
- Waist Circumference (cm) – 96.5
- Hips Circumference (cm) – 101.6
- Waist-to-hip Ratio – 0.96
- Left Bicep Circumference (cm) – 35.3
- Right Bicep Circumference (cm) 35.6
- Left Forearm Circumference (cm) – 31.2
- Right Forearm Circumference (cm) – 28.8cm
- Left Thigh Circumference (cm) – 59.4
- Right Thigh Circumference (cm) – 58.4
- Left Calf Circumference (cm) – 41.2
- Right Thigh Circumference (cm) – 40.2
Postural assessment also shows shift (cm) and tilt (%) of head, shoulders, underbust, hips and knees.
The total circumference of body parts.
Differences in the limb measurements can relate to balance and posture such as the right and left calves being substantially different in a football (soccer) player.
- Neck
- Chest or bust
- Waist
- Hips
- Left & right bicep
- Left & right forearm
- Left & right thigh
- Left & right calf
The ratio between the waist and hips is a quantified measure of potential risk of conditions such as heart disease, cancer, stroke and type 2 diabetes as it considers the location of fat around your middle known as abdominal fat.
Abdominal fat is called visceral fat because it surrounds your liver and other organs.
Visceral fat sends hormones, fatty acids, and other chemicals that cause inflammation into your body leading to higher cholesterol, blood pressure and blood glucose.
Body fat %, visceral fat and other composition measures cannot be reliable assessed exclusively from an external scan.
In a static pose the scan creates a clean assessment of your posture highlighting shift or tilt either to the left or right, forwards or backwards from a natural upright position.
This information can provide important information to combat function, aches and pains and levels of adjustment needed in your movement patterns.
Measures include:
- Head – front and side shift and tilt
- Shoulder – front and side shift and tilt
- Underbust – tilt
- Hip – front and side shift and tilt
- Knee – front and side shift and tilt
Shift is the ‘sliding’ movement forward, backward, left or right and is measured in centimetres. This is any movement in position from the centre point. This is any movement that is parallel to the floor.
Tilt is a part of the body that moves into a sloping position and the rate in which it slopes in a given direction. Tilt is measured as a percentage. This is any movement that brings a part, or parts, of the body toward the floor.
Everyone has different measurements and configurations of these measurements to create our unique body shapes so it is important to understand that there is no normal data. Ethnicity and other factors also determine different body shapes and sizes.
